A building has integrity just like a man. And just as seldom.
A PAUSE FOR THOUGHT.........
Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.
Less is more.
Hello I work as an integrative counsellor, and I am a accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) working in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. As part of a professional organisation I work ethically according to the code of practise. The BACP website is www.bacp.co.uk
I am a qualified counsellor, and have a further practitioners Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work in private practice from offices in Prittlewell, Southend, and also work for a charitable organisation counselling adults, young people and children.
I am friendly and approachable and am able to offer counselling in a safe, welcoming environment and, I am passionate in helping you through life’s many obstacles and stresses. I am able to offer an initial chat to see if this is the right choice for you on the telephone, and then if you decide this is for you, an initial session can be arranged, making the path to counselling an easier one to take. Sometimes the first contact can be difficult, as disclosing your inner most thoughts can be emotionally challenging, and I hope that I can make this journey a time of enlightenment and a rewarding one for you.
By being aware of our thoughts and feelings can be an important first stage in being able to confront and then to deal with them in a way that will make your life happier. Counselling allows you to be able to look at experiences from the past and the present to help understand where we are now, and to undercover any issues you may have, so your future will be one of growth and fulfilment.
By working in an integrative way, I am able to draw upon the many approaches, so I can look at your needs as an individual to be able to work in your best interests together. The different theories to counselling I use are:
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
Person Centred
T A (Transactional Analysis)
Psychodynamic
Existentialism
I am a patient, non-judgemental, attentive listener based in a professional, confidential setting allowing you the space to be able to assess and move on in a positive manner which is often difficult in our fast pace moving society. Often we do not give ourselves enough time to find our own identity, and understand what is working well or not so well for ourselves.
I have had experience of working with adults and young people, and am able to help to explore and understand experiences in a meaningful way to each individual, to be able to find value, growth and purpose in life.
I have had many years working with children, and I am able to offer play therapy to allow the child to be able to communicate and develop in a relaxed supporting setting, using arts, crafts and games.
I would be happy to hear from you whether that be by phoning me, or texting or emailing or sending a message on my Facebook page.
I have been experience of counselling in a wide range of issues in respect of adults, young people and children, including depression, anxiety, OCD, loss, bereavement, trauma, abuse, addictions as well as couple, relationship and family counselling. Sometimes support and help is needed concerning finding a new direction in life, when there feels like there is a crossroads ahead in life, which can feel frightening and challenging. Being listened to by someone outside of the family and friends can be beneficial in being able to find a way forward, by being able to express what is important to you in an accepting, safe, honest without judgement environment.
I have worked as a counsellor in schools, for a bereavement charity, a children's centre, Southend Mind, developing much experience and knowledge within the counselling process. From working in bereavement including supporting those bereaved by suicide, this requires specialist help and support when grieving for a lost one, which affects everyone in different ways. I have completed a foundation course in 'Awareness in Bereavement Care', with Cruse, which covers learning the grieving process and techniques to help with this, which can be a hugely overwhelming experience. I have also been trained to provide group therapy.
I work within schools both primary and secondary, regularly completing annual safeguarding training, as well as attending workshops on self-harm, suicide, substance misuse and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder). I have also counselled adults at a children's centre helping to deal with issues relating to depression, anxiety, custody, parenting support, relationships and family dynamics
I am fully insured, hold a full DBS check and am committed to ongoing continued professional development including having regular supervision with an accredited BACP supervisor to ensure I am working ethically to the best interests of clients.
